Wofford made a resounding statement against Seton Hall that its level of play throughout the season -- 21-0 in Southern Conference -- isn't an issue and is now on a 12-1 ATS run. However, this is another world with Kentucky's size and speed. Wofford hasn't seen anything like this and while I expect them to play well, Kentucky will eventually to overwhelm them. Kentucky is the play.
Wofford loves to push the pace, led by record-setting three-point shooter Fletcher Magee. The Terriers pout up 84 points in their first-round win against Seton Hall. Kentucky is a tempo-flexible club that doesn't mind going fast at all, and likely believes it can top Wofford at its own game. look for a blistering pace to send this one Over the total.
I feel like a bit of a March Grinch here since Wofford has become something of a fan favorite due to it being a small school, but also because it's three-point barrage can be very fun to watch. But Wofford has played some high-end tournament teams earlier this season. It played North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas and Mississippi State, who were all top 35 KenPom teams. It lost all four of them by an average margin of 14.5 points, none by fewer than 11. Kentucky is more talented and has more size and length. I'm betting on that winning out.
I loved watching Wofford play even though I had a bet against them. The Terriers reminded me of Loyola Chicago from last year. They have the No. 1 three-point shooter in NCAA history in Fletcher Magee, a 6-4 200 pound wing player that also shoots 90 percent from the line. Fellow senior Cameron Jackson dominates in the paint on both sides of the court. Kentucky will once again be without P.J. Washington however this time his value will show up. Wofford is a far better shooting team than Kentucky.
I'm absolutely terrified of fading Fletcher Magee, but this number offers too much value with a more talented Kentucky team. My numbers indicate the Wildcats should be -7 favorites against Wofford on a neutral court. Lay it.
Wofford really shocked me. That guy Murphy, I’ve never seen a guy like that. If they’re hitting their 3’s, they’ll give Kentucky a game. I'll take the points.
