The Kansas State-Kansas basketball rivalry isn't much of a rivalry when the Wildcats are in Lawrence.

It's the 292nd edition of the Sunflower Showdown on Tuesday night as Kansas State (8-9, 1-4 Big 12) tries to pull a big upset at No. 3 Kansas (14-3, 4-1) in Big 12 action. The Jayhawks are 17-point favorites on the college basketball odds. Tipoff is 7 p.m. ET from Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, which is a place where Kansas State rarely wins.

Kansas is 49-18 all-time at Allen Fieldhouse in this rivalry and has won the past 13 meetings there. KSU's lone victory in the past 20 in Lawrence was 59-55 in January 2006 when KSU was a 10.5-point underdog. Last year, the Wildcats lost 64-49 as 4.5-point underdogs. Bill Self is 33-6 all-time against K-State, while Bruce Weber is 3-15 against Kansas. Eight of the last 13 matchups have been decided by single digits.

KU did lose its last home game, though, 67-55 to current No. 1 team Baylor on Jan. 11. The Jayhawks last lost back-to-back games in Allen Fieldhouse during the 1988-89 season. KU is 13-0 following an Allen Fieldhouse loss under Self. All three of KU's losses this season are to ranked schools (also Duke and Villanova).

Kansas is the +1100 second favorite on the FanDuel college basketball futures odds to win the national title, +135 to reach the Final Four and the same price to earn a No. 1 seed. KU is +225 at DraftKings to win the Big 12 title, trailing Baylor (+150).

K-State is 1-1 vs. ranked teams this season following an 84-68 upset of then-No. 12 West Virginia on Saturday to end a four-game losing streak – that was the school's longest conference losing streak since 2008-09. Wildcats junior guard Cartier Diarra tied a career high with 25 points. KSU shot 59.2 percent from the field. Fellow junior guard Mike McGuirl missed his second consecutive game due to a concussion. He averages 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
