Aaron Judge home run odds: Now at 60 homers, Yankees star 17-to-1 to break Roger Maris' AL record tonight vs. Pirates

We saw history at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night as Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 60th home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning – with the Pirates up by four runs and Judge facing a 3-1 count, it was a rare at-bat these days when he was guaranteed a good pitch to hit, and he yanked one 430 feet into left-center field, which sparked a shocking rally and a 9-8 victory. Caesars Sportsbook now lists Judge at -3000 to break Roger Maris' AL record of 61 homers (that number was +200 a few weeks ago) and +1200 to come up short or tie. Judge is leading the three AL Triple Crown categories, but that he finishes the job there is +100 with No at -130.

The Yankees host the Pirates again tonight and the Bucs start rookie Roansy Contreras (5-4, 3.24), who hasn't faced Judge outside of spring training. Judge is +175 to go yard at Caesars and +1700 at FanDuel to hit two homers and break the record. Judge's 11 multi-home run games are the most by a Yankee ever in a season and tied with Sammy Sosa (1998 with the Cubs) and Hank Greenberg (1938 with the Tigers) for the most by any MLB player in a season.

Doing so in 147 team games, Judge became the fastest Yankee to hit 60 homers in a season, beating out Maris' 159 games in 1961 and Babe Ruth's 154 games in 1927. The only faster players to 60 homers in MLB history in team games were Barry Bonds in 2001 (141 games) and Mark McGwire in 1998 (142).

Tuesday's shot was Judge's 26th homer this season to travel at least 420 feet, tied for the second-most in a single season as far back as home run distance is available (since 2006). Two of Maris' sons, Kevin and Roger Jr., were on hand Tuesday and presumably will be tonight.

Judge now leads the AL in batting average (.316), homers (60) and RBI (128), vying for the majors' first Triple Crown since the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera accomplished the feat in 2012. No player since Cabrera had led all three Triple Crown categories in either league in September or later. Judge has been crushing the ball this month, slashing .475/.573/1.017, good for a 1.590 OPS. That would be the highest OPS ever in September (minimum 75 plate appearances). Two Yankees have won the Triple Crown: Lou Gehrig in 1934 and Mickey Mantle in 1956.
