Allan Bell is joined by sports betting experts Zack Cimini, Martin Green and Alex Selesnick on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball and soccer for Monday, Aug. 8.

Bell starts things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day, both in MLB. The first is Over 7.5 runs (-120) in the Nationals-Cubs game (8:05 p.m. ET). "The Cubs will be facing Anibal Sanchez and his 7.80 ERA," he says. "You're looking at this probably saying, 'Allan, look, the Cubs are horrible at the plate. They're only averaging 2.1 runs per game over their last seven.' Here's the key - the Nationals are giving up 6.4 runs per game in that span."

The second SportsLine Play of the Day is Over 7.5 runs (-115) in the Yankees-Mariners contest (10:10 p.m. ET). "The Yankees have given up 32 runs over their last five games," Allan says. "(Jameson Taillon) gave up five earned runs in 4 ⅔ innings in his last outing against Seattle. Mariners starter Logan Gilbert allowed six earned runs in 5 ⅓ innings in his last start against New York."

Green is up next with a pair of soccer plays. The first is in Coppa Italia, where he likes Sassuolo (-115) to defeat Modena (noon ET). "Sassuolo is a Serie A team, whereas Modena plies its trade in Serie B, so there should be a gulf in quality between these two teams," he says. "Sassuolo has lost a couple of key players this summer, but it should still have enough quality to beat Modena."

Martin's second play is in the Turkish Super Lig: Istanbul Basaksehir (-125) to beat Kasimpasa (12:15 p.m. ET). "They've beaten Kasimpasa in the last three meetings between the teams," he says. "They have home advantage, they just have more quality. They displayed more ambition in the summer transfer market than Kasimpasa. They just should be the better team."

Cimini follows with an MLB play. He likes the Blue Jays (-136) to beat the Orioles in the opener of their three-game series (7:05 p.m. ET). "I think we've seen (Baltimore's) Jordan Lyles overachieve just a bit in his past two starts," Zack says. "This is not the Jordan Lyles we have been accustomed to seeing. In fact, against the Blue Jays earlier this year, he was hit hard - just five hits, but the production from Toronto was phenomenal, four runs. … I think this Toronto Blue Jays team can get it done early and get after Jordan Lyles, who hasn't been hit lately, and get this win on the road."

Selesnick jumps in with an MLB prop play: Over 4.5 strikeouts for Toronto's Yusei Kikuchi (-133) in the Blue Jays-Orioles contest. "He's eclipsed this in 10 of his last 14 appearances," Alex says. "He's averaging a career-best 10.22 strikeouts over nine innings to go along with a 25 percent K rate. He's got a career-high swinging-strike percentage as well. He's struggled, however, to go deep into games, but I like his chances tonight against Baltimore. (The Orioles) average the ninth-most strikeouts per game. They also have a 25.4 percent K rate versus opposing lefties, which is the third-highest mark in the majors."

Bell wraps things up with one play, also in Major League Baseball. He likes Over 3.5 runs for the Orioles (-150) in their meeting with the Blue Jays. "(The Orioles are) much better at home this season than they are on the road, 31-21 record," Allan says. "The Orioles got to Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi earlier this season, four earned runs in only four innings pitched."
