Host Jonathan Coachman is joined by sports betting experts Alex "PropStarz" Selesnick and Martin Green on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball, golf and soccer for Friday, Aug. 19.
The Padres and Yu Darvish were one of the biggest upset losers of the season at home against the terrible Nationals on Thursday, but PropStarz expects a bounce-back effort tonight from San Diego behind lefty Blake Snell, whom he is backing at -120 to personally get a W: "Snell has been lights-out recently in winning five of his past seven after starting the season 0-5 -- he has allowed just a single earned run over his past five. The Nats have the fifth-lowest OPS against lefties this season. Paolo Espino has an ERA over 6.00 for Washington in his past four. This is a great spot for Snell."
Martin is looking toward the German Bundesliga today (2:30 ET start) and backing Borussia Monchengladbach on the moneyline to beat Hantha Berlin and Over 2.5 totals goals scored at -105: "Borussia has had a strong start to the season under new manager Daniel Farke, while Berlin have not started well with a 3-1 loss to Union Berlin and 1-1 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. This price looks appealing rather than just Monchengladbach to win at near -200."
From the PGA Tour's BMW Championship, the second leg of the FedExCup playoffs, Coach likes in Round 2 action today: Sam Burns over Tony Finau at -105, and Patrick Cantlay over Xander Schauffele at +105.
