Today's picks: Why the Braves will cover against the Cardinals, plus more MLB, Wimbledon and soccer for Monday, July 4

Allan Bell is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure, Zack Cimini and Larry Hartstein on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball, Wimbledon and soccer for Monday, July 4.

Bell kicks things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is in soccer: The United States Women's National Team to post a 4-0 victory over Haiti (+650) in the Concacaf W Championship (7 p.m. ET). "They've squared off six times in their history. The U.S. Women's National Team - 6-0," he says. "They've handled their business there, and they've been stellar in recent months, posting six straight victories and outscoring their opponents 33-1 during that streak."

The second Play of the Day is in Major League Baseball, courtesy of SportsLine expert Jeff Hochman: The Athletics (+1.5 runs at +118) to cover against the Blue Jays in the opener of their three-game series (9:07 p.m. ET). "The Blue Jays played five straight games against the Rays and now travel to the West Coast," Allan says. "Seems like a flat spot to him."

McClure is up next with a Wimbledon play. He likes Over 9.5 games in the first set (-120) of the fourth-round match between Rafael Nadal and Botic van de Zandschulp (noon ET). "I expect a competitive match, at least early here until fatigue starts to set in," Mike says. "Botic has a really nice, strong serve that's going to serve him really well on this grass-court surface. I think it's going to keep him competitive, at least through the first 1 ½ sets of this match. Look for a little more conservative effort from Nadal, starting out in the first set not to make any mistakes on his end. Look for them to potentially even play a tiebreaker in the first set."

Cimini follows with an MLB bet. He likes the Braves (-1.5 runs at +120) to cover against the Cardinals in the opener of their four-game set (7:20 p.m. ET). "St. Louis was flat yesterday with just four hits, (are) traveling again. Atlanta, they've been superb off a loss," Zack says. "I think they respond after losing to the Reds yesterday. (St. Louis') Dakota Hudson as a road underdog this year is 0-4. Last season, the Braves dominated the St. Louis Cardinals. Last August, a three-game series at St. Louis, swept them, won all three games by three runs or more. And they won three of four in June, so they've won six of seven games. That one loss was the second game of a doubleheader that was just seven innings."

Hartstein wraps things up with an MLB play. He likes the Marlins (-115) to beat the Nationals and complete a four-game sweep (11:05 a.m. ET). "They've won 11 of the last 12 meetings and something happened to the Marlins in St. Louis on Wednesday," Larry says. "They were dead and buried, they were about to get swept, shocking two-out, two-strike homer to beat the Cardinals and now they've won four in a row. Again, a dramatic win last night. (Washington's Patrick Corbin) is coming off a good outing, (but) I don't think he can do it again. … Juan Soto (calf) is supposed to be re-evaluated today, doesn't sound like he's going to be in the lineup, which is a huge negative for the Nats."
