Bettors are favoring Xander Schauffele to win the WM Phoenix Open.

For the fourth time, the greater Phoenix area will host a Super Bowl/PGA Tour double dip this weekend. The WM Phoenix Open is always held in Scottsdale the weekend of the big game, and Super Bowl 57 between the Chiefs and Eagles is about a 30-minute drive away in Glendale with a 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday. At BetMGM, bettors are favoring Xander Schauffele to win the tournament, and several books are offering cross-sport props featuring both the golf and football. It's a stellar field at the WM Phoenix Open, always the biggest party scene in golf, with eight of the world's top 10 players teeing up at TPC Scottsdale – including world No. 1 Rory McIlroy, who's entering the tournament for the second time in his career. He was T13 in 2021 and is the +800 second favorite behind Spain's red-hot Jon Rahm (+750). McIlroy is making his first PGA tour start since winning The CJ CUP in October and has been spectacular on the DP World Tour since then, including a recent win in Dubai.

Rahm, ranked No. 3 in the world, has won four of his last six starts combined on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. In five PGA Tour events in the wraparound season, he has two wins and a worst finish of T7. Rahm starred nearby collegiately at Arizona State. He contends in this tournament pretty much every year but is yet to win it. Rahm has never finished worse than T16 in the WM Phoenix Open.

Yet it's Schauffele at +1600 taking the most overall action at the book to win. He's gotten 12% of the handle and 7.2% of the tickets, with Collin Morikawa (+1800) next at 11% and 7.0%, respectively. Neither McIlroy or Rahm are in the top 3 of either handle or tickets.

Schauffele was T3 last year and a co-runner-up in 2021 when he lost in a playoff to Brooks Koepka (now on the LIV Tour). Schauffele has gained more than 46 strokes on the field in his career at TPC Scottsdale. This is the first full-field designated event of 2023 and as an "elevated" tournament the purse was jacked up to $20 million -- hence the great field.

FanDuel offers a prop on the Eagles winning the Super Bowl and either Rahm or McIlroy winning the Phoenix Open at +650. The Chiefs winning and one of those emerging victorious in Scottsdale is +700. Rahm or Schauffele to win and the Eagles victorious is +750.

At Caesars, McIlroy's total of fourth-round birdies (obviously assuming he makes the cut) is +1.0 at -130 against total punts in the Super Bowl at -1.0 (+100). McIlroy's fourth-round score is -6.5 at -115 vs. rushing yards by Philadelphia's Miles Sanders at +6.5 at -115. TPC Scottsdale isn't a tough course, as it usually takes at least a score of 15 under par to win. Sanders has an over/under of 60.5 rushing yards for the game.

Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion of the WM Phoenix Open. He beat Patrick Cantlay in a playoff last year for his first PGA Tour win – only to follow with three more victories, including the 2022 Masters. Scheffler's fourth-round score is -1.5 at -130 against number of Chiefs offensive plays at +1.5 (+100). During the regular season, Kansas City averaged 64.6 plays.
