DORTMUND, Germany (AP) Andreas Neuendorf scored with five minutes left, giving Hertha Berlin a 2-2 tie against defending champion Borussia Dortmund on Friday night in the opener of the German Bundesliga season.

Berlin's Bart Goor scored just 55 seconds in, but Torsten Frings tied it in the fourth minute and Brazilian forward Ewerthon put Dortmund ahead in the 36th off a rebound after his initial header bounced off both posts.

German was the second of the five major European leagues to start. France began last weekend, England starts next weekend, and Italy and Spain open Aug. 31.
