SUNDERLAND, England (AP) Claudio Reyna injured a groin, and the midfielder was left home by Sunderland as the team traveled to Spain for exhibition games in Seville and Algeciras this weekend.

Reyna, the U.S. national team captain, is expected to be ready for Sunderland's Aug. 17 Premier League opener against Blackburn, which starts U.S. goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
