He first began critical writing about basketball when he was cut from the basketball team as a high school sophomore. That continued in college at Ohio Stat e during the Archie Griffin years as the Woody Hayes era was grinding to an unceremonious halt. Married with two children, Kahn has worked in the Cincinnati, St. Louis, Birmingham, Indianapolis and Seattle markets as a beat writer covering the baseball Cardinals, the USFL, the Colts, Indiana basketball, the Pacers and the Sonics before coming to work for SportsLine.com where he was initially a newsroom of one in July of 1995. It was in Indianapolis, covering the Pacers, where he realized that the lure of basketball never really left. From that winter day in Cincinnati walking home in the snow from the one and only sports team he was ever released, he was destined to be a hoop head. Kahn has covered the NBA for nearly 20 years and has served two-year stints as vice president and president of the Pro Basketball Writers Association.
