Ian Browne was born in Detroit, raised in Boston and developed a love for writing and sports in his early years. His first byline was in second grade, when an essay he wrote about his mother for Mother's Day was printed in a local newspaper. But perhaps to shed the label of being a momma's boy, Ian became obsessed with baseball, both playing and watching it. It dawned on him pretty early that he wasn't good enough to play it for a living, so he had it set in his mind that he would be a sports journalist. While at Northeastern University, Ian took advantage of the cooperative education program and worked in the Boston Globe sports section for three and a half years, accumulating hundreds of clips. Those clips ultimately helped land him the job at SportsLine.com, where he started in February of 1996 as an entry level copy editor/writer and worked his way up to a full-time columnist based in New York City. He is married with one son.
