TORONTO -- Ottawa Senators defenseman Karel Rachunek was taken from the ice on a stretcher after being checked into the boards during Wednesday night's game against Toronto.

The Senators said hospital tests showed Rachunek sustained a "soft tissue back injury" and that he returned to the Air Canada Centre for the end of the game.

Rachunek had his back to the boards when Toronto forward Darcy Tucker hit him. The game was delayed for about 10 minutes as paramedics attended to Rachunek.

Tucker received a five-minute penalty for boarding.
