GARY McCORD
(CBS Sports broadcaster)

Gary McCord joined CBS Sports full time in 1986 as an analyst for the CBS Television Network's golf coverage. He now also plays on the Senior PGA TOUR and won his first Senior event at the Toshiba Classic in March 1999. His insight stems from being a PGA TOUR regular since 1973. He achieved best-ever finishes at the 1975 and 1977 Greater Milwaukee Open, placing second in both tournaments. In 1984, he was the PGA TOUR's leading putter. He also won the Ben Hogan Gateway Open in 1991.

McCord, a playing editor for Golf Digest, has written two books, Just a Range Ball in a Box of Titleists and Golf for Dummies. He appeared as himself in--and served as the technical director for--the 1996 Kevin Costner movie "Tin Cup." McCord and Peter Kostis are partnered in the Kostis/McCord Learning Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.

McCord was a two-time All-America at the University of California-Riverside, from which he was graduated in 1971 after having been a member of the 1970 College Division II championship team. After turning pro, McCord was a player-director on the PGA TOUR's Policy Board (1983-86).

He was born May 23, 1948 in San Gabriel, Calif., and lives with his wife, Diane, in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Edwards, Colo.
