Round 2 Second-half swoon leads to demise L 60-79

A Glance at 2001

Auburn will have to retool next season after the departure of four regular starters: Chris Porter, Doc Robinson, Daymeon Fishback and Mamadou N'diaye.

The Coach

Cliff Ellis has survived and won at every place he's coached. He'll figure out a way to get the Tigers back on track next season, though the job will be tougher with the emergence of SEC West rivals LSU and Alabama.

Who'll Be Back

Auburn returns just one starter, shooting guard Scott Pohlman, next season. But freshmen Marquis Daniels and Jamison Brewer were highly decorated high school players and should mature into solid SEC players.

Who's Gone

The loss of Porter, N'diaye and Fishback wipes out Auburn's starting front line. Point guard Doc Robinson will leave a huge hole to fill.

Key Newcomers

Auburn signed three players in the early signing period and also has North Carolina State transfer Adam Harrington sitting out.

  • C Adbou Diame (6-9, 196, Fr.): Like N'diaye a native of Senegal, Diame was ranked the No. 15 prospect in the nation by recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons.
  • SG Adam Harrington (6-5, 185, So.): Harrington will have three years of eligibility, starting next season. A year ago, he averaged 11.6 points to become the first freshman ever to lead the Wolfpack in scoring. He started 21 games and shot 36 percent from 3-point range. He had a season-high 26 points against Duke, 21 coming in the second half.
  • Others: Kyle Davis (6-10, 210); Brandon Robinson (6-6, 195).
