Ivy League report | NCAA Tournament report
SportsLine.com Report A Glance at 2001The Quakers take a major hit with four starters graduating. The backcourt will be in extremely inexperienced hands, and two returning freshmen will be the building blocks up front. A total of six sophomores-to-be will someday be a great group of veterans. Question is, how long will that transformation take? Who'll Be BackNext year's roster should list six sophomores, one junior and three seniors. Compared to this year's senior class, next year's will consist of a second-year transfer from Brown, and two others who started a total of two games this season. The other upperclassman has never started a game. Of the six sophomores, Ugonna Onyekwe and Koko Archibong have started most of the year, with Dave Klatsky emerging late in the year and averaging 22 minutes. Who's GoneThe backcourt of Michael Jordan and Matt Langel depart. They started four games as freshmen and have been buddies ever since. There will be a big hole in the middle with the loss of Geoff Owens. He rarely dominated games, but was a solid Ivy League player who was better than most. In Frank Brown, Penn loses another senior who averaged five points and three rebounds during four seasons. Key NewcomersNo signees heading into the NCAAs. |
