Gwynn is reminder of legacy of great players, great men

Tony Gwynn, one of the baseball's greatest hit machines, called it a career Sunday after coming to plate one last time as a pinch hitter.

His final hit came the day before, also in a pinch-hit role, when Gwynn doubled against Colorado. It was career hit No. 3,141 for Gwynn, one shy of tying Robin Yount for 16th on the all-time list. More...
