The seventh-ranked Russian will next play sixth-seeded Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan, who upset third-seeded Nadia Petrova 7-6 (7-0), 1-6, 6-4 in the warm-up event for the French Open.
Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska rallied to defeat Andreja Klepac 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, and eighth-seeded Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria beat fourth-seeded Olga Govortsova 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2).
