No. 14 Arizona vs. No. 3 Carolina
|

The Carolina Panthers’ mascot has a better seed than Bid Red and it’s obvious to see why.
His name is SIR PURR! Get it? He's a big cat and cats purr – hence the name, Sir Purr. That has got to be the coolest nickname in the history of NFL mascots.
Yeah, I'm biased because I have a black cat that looks like Sir Purr. But so what?
HIS NAME IS SIR PURR!
Just when you say it doesn’t get any better than that ... it does! According to the team's official site, he doesn't list his weight, because "it's purr-sonal." And he went to CAT-awba College and majored in PURR-forming arts. If you don't find that amusing, then you don't have a heart.
Now, despite all the funny stuff about a cool name and clever marketing department, let's get to the real facts -- this is a Panther. A black Panther. And it’s not the organization from the 1960s -- this is a fierce animal that will tear you to shreds. I'm not even sure Panthers have enemies. Maybe in Florida it’s the car, but it's definitely not a bird.
Now just to show I'm not one-sided, this isn't your ordinary cardinal. This one is a five-time Pro Bowl representative. One with a wingspan of 7 feet. And for some strange reason, he also sports the same name as a brand of chewing gum -- Big Red. (Listen up Arizona representatives; I just gave you a great advertising tie-in.)
Not every mascot makes it to the Pro Bowl. Only 12 get selected and Big Red has been there five years in a row. LaDainian Tomlinson is a five-time Pro Bowl RB and Tom Brady is a four-time Pro Bowl QB, so you know this is one strong bird.
What do they base mascot Pro Bowl selection on? How many cheers they've led? Amount of kids they've hugged? Fastest time in the 40 in an animal suit?
Either way, Big Red has to be pretty proud to earn that honor, but now it's time for him to take on Sir Purr. So unless Sir Purr is taking a cat nap, he'll probably be pouncing his way to the next round.
