No. 8 Washington vs. No. 9 San Francisco

This is an unorthodox duel. An official mascot vs. a fan.
But calling Chief Zee just a fan is like calling a steak at the Palm a Royale with cheese.
Here's the skinny on Zee. He has been attending Redskins games since 1978 sporting some sort of '70s disco suit with tassels, a headdress, rimmed glasses and a kid-on-Christmas smile. But to know Chief Zee, you must go back to Sept. 5, 1978. That's when this man first attended a Redskins game in that garb.
Then there's the day Chief Zee got the Santa treatment by Philly fans. Actually, Santa got off easy that day. Chief Zee, wearing his Sunday finest, was attacked by this ravenous bunch. They broke his leg, tore off his costume and came a bucket of tar away from feathering the guy with his own headdress. That only made Chief Zee angry -- and dedicated to his craft.
He has a day in D.C. named after him -- Chief Zee Day -- is in the Hall of Fame, does birthday parties, riles up fans in the parking lot before games and helps Jason Campbell with his
automotive quagmires. Who said mascots can't be flesh, blood and velour?
On the other side is Sourdough Sam. His origins aren't as well documented.
He was born a "Long Time Ago" in "Dem Dare Hills," but like all good larger-than-life golddiggers, he eventually moved to "Dem Thar Hills."
He likes eating garlic fries, which I'd imagine clashes with his other hobby, hanging with cheerleaders. He's a five-time Pro Bowl mascot and has been featured on a plethora of TV programs. His name is alliterative, and while he's not quite a baker, it implies that he could pinch off a loaf or two when asked.
Most important, he's a man of the people. Do a YouTube search of Samarama mingling with fans, and you'll see the Samster dropping 'bows on a Ram, tackling Raiders and mocking Cowboys.
Just don't expect to see the Sourdough Sam that looks like another famous Sam, Yosemite. He shaved before the 2006 season.
