AL AIN, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- A pair of first-half goals from Edilson Ferreira gave United Arab Emirates champion Al Ain a 3-0 victory over Al Shabab of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and move it alone two points atop Group B in the Asian Champions League.
The Brazilian striker headed in a cross in the 29th minute and converted a penalty two minutes later after being tripped by Saleh Sadeeq.
Subait Khater added a 25-meter free kick two minutes after the second-half kickoff to complete the victory and give Al Ain seven points after three games.
Iran's Sepahan kept pace with a 3-1 victory at Al Wahda while al Shabab fell three points off the lead in third. Only the seven group winners advance to the second round along with defending champion Al Ittihad.
Al Ain dominated most of the game and could have score more if not for some poor finishing in the second half. Al Shabab's best chance of pulling one back came when their Ghanaian pro Godwin Attram broke through the defense, but his close range shot went wide.
