MARSEILLE, France (AP) -Federico Hilaire and Cesar Leguizamon scored twice each to give Argentina a 5-2 victory over the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and send it to the quarterfinals of the beach soccer World Cup, while Russia and Spain kept alive their chances of advancing.
In Group D, Brazil routed Japan 8-1 to remain atop Group D, getting a pair of goals from Junior Negao.
The defending champion also had goals by Buru, Betinho, Benjamin, Bruno, and Daniel.
Shinji Makino scored Japan's loan goal while Katsuhiro Yoshii added an own-goal.
Spain rallied past Mexico 2-1 with goals from Amarelle and Antonio, moving it into second place behind Brazil in Group D with one match remaining.
Christopher Flores gave Mexico the lead but Amarelle equalized with a diagonal strike before Antonio scored 1 1/2 minutes into the final period to give Spain the victory.
Brazil leads Group D with six points, followed by Spain and Mexico with three each. Winless Japan was eliminated.
In Group C, Argentina joined Portugal and Italy with guaranteed places in the final eight.
Hilaire gave Argentina the lead but Rami Al Mesaabi equalized at the end of the first period.
Ibrahim Albalooshi converted a penalty kick in the third period to cut Argentina's lead to 4-2 before Leguizamon sealed the win with a free kick.
Goalkeeper Andrey Bukhlitskiy kept a clean sheet to help Russia beat Cameroon 4-0.
An own-goal from Aime Youbi put Russia ahead.
Danil Khmara doubled the lead with a strike under the crossbar.
Alexey Makarov made it 3-0 with a low shot before Rustam Shakmelyan beat Cameroon goalkeeper Jean Kengne.
Argentina tops Group C with six points. Russia and the United Arab Emirates are tied in second place with three points. Cameroon was eliminated with its second loss.
