France and Slovakia with defensive injury concerns ahead of friendly

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) -France and Slovakia have defensive injury concerns ahead of their friendly Wednesday.

Lilian Thuram (ankle) and William Gallas (groin) left early from a France training session Tuesday.

France coach Raymond Domenech said he is "very worried" that Gallas might miss the next 2008 European Championship qualifier at Italy on Sept. 8.

Striker David Trezeguet returns to the France squad after a public disagreement with Domenech.

Slovakia coach Jan Kocian called up Peter Pekarik to replace the injured Peter Singlar, while other defenders Martin Skrtel (concussion) and Vratislav Gresko (groin) were left out of the squad.

Left winger Dusan Sventa is also out with a knee injury.

France leads Group B in Euro 2008 qualifying with 18 points, two ahead of Italy. Scotland is third with 15.

Slovakia is fourth in Group D with nine points. Germany leads with 19 points, while Czech Republic has 14 and Ireland 13.
