David Beckham misses Real Madrid training session on Tuesday due to left ankle injury

MADRID, Spain (AP) -David Beckham missed a Real Madrid training session on Tuesday to rest his injured left ankle.

He was hurt in his country's 3-0 win over Estonia in qualifying for the 2008 European Championship last week, but played in Madrid's 2-2 draw at Zaragoza in the Spanish league on Saturday.

Raul Bravo, Antonio Cassano and Miguel Torres also sat out the practice due to injuries.

Madrid is unbeaten in 11 games since Beckham was reinstated by coach Fabio Capello after falling out of favor. Beckham will join the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer after the season is over.

With one round left, Madrid is tied with FC Barcelona with 73 points. Madrid would win a record 30th league title on head-to-head results should they remain tied in the standings.

It would be Beckham's first major trophy for the club since joining Madrid in 2003.

On Sunday, Madrid is at home to Mallorca and Barcelona visits Gimnastic Tarragona.
