Red Sox option opening-day hero Moss to Triple-A Pawtucket

TOKYO -- Red Sox outfielder Brandon Moss was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket after Boston's 5-1 loss to Oakland on Wednesday.

Moss played right field in Boston's first two regular season games in Japan in place of the injured J.D. Drew. Moss' ninth-inning home run tied Wednesday's opener, which the Red Sox went on to win 6-5 in 10 innings.

Moss went 2-for-8 with two RBI in the series. He hit .282 with a team-best 16 homers for Pawtucket last season and .280 in 15 games with Boston.
