Al Golden continues to see signs. Now, the Temple coach wants to see a few more wins.

The hard-luck Owls ended a painful four-game losing streak last week -- three of the losses by a combined nine points -- and now visit Central Michigan hoping to make it two in a row.

It won't be easy. The Chippewas, led by quarterback Dan LeFevour, are 9-point favorite in this MAC contest.

"He has over a 60 percent completion rate and any time you're interceptions are doubled by your touchdowns, you're a pretty good player and obviously he's the best at what he does in our conference," Golden told Monday's MAC media conference call. "He has a nice supporting cast and he'll be a great challenge for us this week."

As far as his own quarterback goes, Chester Stewart makes his third straight start and this could be the last game Adam DiMichele misses with his shoulder injury. The original call on DiMichele was 3-6 weeks and the coaches are hoping that means the Oct. 21 home game against Ohio that follows a quasi-bye week. The hope is the few extra days will make a difference.

Meanwhile, you can tell Golden's pleased with the way Stewart has grown into the job, allowing the coach to have Vaughn Charlton keep his redshirt year The plan is for Charlton to take over for the next two years but Stewart, the redshirt freshman from Hanover, Md., would love to throw a bit of a twist into that picture.

Golden's team is now 2-4, 1-2 in the MAC and the game this week is the kind that can make or break a season. Golden's eyes are always on the big picture, but a win this week can make this more than just a building year.

The Owls know they're 2-4 record could easily be 5-1 as they lost two games on the final play of the game and dropped a 7-3 decision where Temple missed two field goals.
