STARS OF 2008:

QB Chase Clement -- The rising senior broke 18 school records last season and was named team MVP. He became the first player in NCAA history to record consecutive games with over 100 yards rushing and 300 yards passing when he topped those marks in back-to-back wins over UTEP and SMU.

WR Jarett Dillard -- The rising senior enters the 2008 season as the NCAA's active career leader in receptions (205), receiving yards (2,828) and touchdowns (40).

S Andrew Sendejo -- The 6-1, 213-pound rising junior picked off five passes last season, most by an Owl since 2000. Sendejo also made a team-high 107 tackles.

TOP NEWCOMERS

LB Tanner Shuck -- The 5-11, 220-pound redshirt freshman is ready to contribute to a strong linebacking corps after a leg injury sidelined him last season.

DT Davon Primus -- The 6-3, 325-pound redshirt freshman could be the massive presence Rice needs up front. Primus, who was moved from offense to defense, looks very athletic after shedding some weight.

LB Ronnie Lillard -- The 6-3, 215 pounder played last season at the Air Force Academy Prep School in Colorado Springs. He has a knack for making big plays and will have four years of eligibility starting this fall.

WR Michael Fuda -- The 6-0, 190-pound redshirt freshman has impressed in spring practice.

ROSTER REPORT

--TE/QB James Casey, who played several positions last season, has been working out at both receiver and quarterback. The 6-4, 245-pound rising sophomore emerged as a reliable target at tight end late last season.

--Joseph Leary, a rising sophomore, has made a smooth transition from safety to cornerback.
