RedHawks report: Strategy and personnel
STARS OF 2008: QB Daniel Raudabaugh -- A junior, he passed for 221 yards a game last year with 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. A better running game would help him immensely. WR Armand Robinson -- The 6-1, 197-pound rising sophomore is an explosive receiver who can make catches in traffic and break tackles. He had 33 catches for 471 yards, including a team-high three touchdown, last season. RB Andre Bratton -- If he can stay healthy, the rising junior could help jumpstart the offense. LB Clayton Mullins -- The returning MAC Defensive Player of the Year had 143 tackles, 13.5 tackles for losses, four sacks, six pass breakups and a forced fumble last season. TOP NEWCOMERS RB Dan Green -- The 5-10, 195-pound freshman is fast and elusive with excellent cutback ability. He could contribute right away after averaging more than six yards a carry in high school. OL Nick Kemper -- The 6-3, 275-pound freshman has outstanding fundamentals and could compete for playing time right away. His dad started at offensive tackle for Miami in the 1980s. RB Quincy Landingham -- He played last fall as a true freshman at Wisconsin, transferred to Miami and enrolled for the second semester. He'll be eligible this fall and is likely to get carries. WR Joe Clarke -- The 6-3, 190-pound freshman has great hands and could emerge as a big-play threat. ROSTER REPORT --Jay Graham, the former Tennessee star and NFL player, joined the staff as running backs coach earlier this month. He comes to the RedHawks from the University of Tennessee-Martin, where he was running backs coach and recruiting coordinator. --The RedHawks return every starter from last year's MAC-best defense, including conference Defensive Player of the Year Clayton Mullins. The senior linebacker made 143 tackles and 13.5 tackles for losses. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. |
