Ragin Cajuns report: Inside slant
After winning four straight games, the Ragin' Cajuns (5-5, 4-1) have hit a major road block. They were woeful in a 37-24 loss at home to UTEP and even worse Saturday when they lost 40-29 at Florida Atlantic. ULL fell behind 19-0 early and trailed 40-7 at one point before scoring 22 points in the final quarter. The loss dropped ULL into a tie for first place with Troy in the Sun Belt standings, but it can still win the championship by beating Troy on the road this week and Middle Tennessee at home it the season finale. "We just didn't show up tonight," senior quarterback Michael Desormeaux told the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. "I don't know what the problem is. But we've got to grow up as a team." Regardless if ULL had beaten Florida Atlantic, it would still had to win at Troy to win the league title and the automatic berth to the New Orleans Bowl. ULL is certainly going into this week's pivotal game at Troy on a downswing.
