The Cougars have taken quickly to the spread offense installed by new coordinator Dana Holgorsen, who left Texas Tech to join new head coach Kevin Sumlin's staff.

In the Red-White Game at the end of spring practice, quarterbacks Blake Joseph and Case Keenum combined to throw for 626 yards without an interception. Joseph, the strong-armed junior, hit 37 of 41 throws for 421 yards and five touchdowns. Keenum, the more mobile sophomore, completed 28 of 35 for 205 yards and two scores.

Joseph displayed more touch and accuracy than he did last season.

"Coach Holgorsen and I have really been working on touch passes so everything's not 100 miles per hour ... or 200 miles per hour," Joseph told the Houston Chronicle.

Sumlin praised both quarterbacks for not committing any turnovers. It appears they'll continue to split snaps in training camp, and perhaps this fall.

With 17 starters back from last year's 8-5 squad and the Cougars adapting quickly to the new offensive scheme, Houston should contend for the C-USA crown.
