Yellow Jackets report: Inside slant
Georgia Tech saw its ACC title hopes go down the drain in Chapel Hill last weekend. But a New Year's Day bowl game is still within reach. The Yellow Jackets will enjoy their off week, before hosting Miami in a Thursday-night game. They finish the season in Athens against Georgia. Two wins would almost certainly land Georgia Tech an invite to the Gator Bowl, as the third team selected out of the ACC. Otherwise, the Music City Bowl, Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, the Meineke Car Care Bowl and Emerald Bowl are possibilities. "We know as a team we lost an opportunity, but we know that our season is in our hands," running back Jonathan Dwyer told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It's our own destiny whether or not we want to play in December or January. Get this bye week, get everybody healthy and get ready to play Miami." Georgia Tech has beaten the Hurricanes three straight, but it has not beaten Georgia in seven seasons. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. |
