THE GOOD NEWS
The Jags return all but two seniors, so they'll be able to build on a strong nucleus of experienced players, including six players who will be seniors in 2008-09.

THE BAD NEWS
The Jags lose their two best overall players in SG Demetric Bennett and PG Daon Merritt. The Jags have players who can pick up some of Bennett's scoring but they have no obvious point guard candidates on the roster.

KEY RETURNEES
G Domonic Tilford, wing Daniel Hayles, and Fs Brandon Davis, DeAndre Coleman and Ronald Douglas.

ROSTER REPORT

--SG Demetric Bennett entered the NCAA Tournament scoring a team-high 20.1 points per game but never got on track against Butler, scoring just six points by making two of eight shots from the field, missing all three 3-pointers and committing four turnovers. In addition to his scoring, South Alabama will miss his rebounding, defensive play and leadership.

--PG Daon Merritt averaged 11.5 points per game and led the Sun Belt with 5.6 assists per game and will have to be replaced through the next recruiting class.

--G Domonic Tilford was South Alabama's other primary scorer throughout his first season at South Alabama after transferring from a junior college. He will be South Alabama's leading returning scorer in 2008-09 after scoring 12.7 points per game in 2007-08.

--South Alabama will also count on more scoring from Brandon Davis, who emerged as a capable scorer and strong rebounder with 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
