Fantasy Analysis

Higgins has managed 20-plus goals for three straight seasons and is a valuable offensive player to the Canadiens when healthy. He is more of a low-end Fantasy option, however, since he doesn't put up a lot of assists. Laraque was hoping to be ready for the Canadiens opener, but the groin injury has continued to linger. Laraque remains just a flier in leagues that reward heavily for PIM when healthy.

Laraque has struggled with a groin injury since the first day of training camp, but "things are getting better," according to Montreal Gazette. (Updated 10/03/2008)

Advice

Laraque signed a three-year, $4.5-million contract with the Canadiens in July after spending 2007-08 with Eastern Conference champion Pittsburgh. He told the publication he is optimistic he'd "be 100-percent by the time the season starts (Oct. 10)." Laraque had four goals and nine assists and 141 penalty minutes in 71 games last season. He added one goal, two assists and four penalty minutes in 15 playoff games for the Penguins.
