Fantasy Analysis
Fedorov, the 1994 league MVP, was one of three trade deadline acquisitions that helped the Capitals end a five-year playoff drought last season. The 38-year-old center had 13 points in 18 regular-season games with Washington after being dealt by Columbus. Fedorov also had five points in a seven-game first-round playoff series loss to Philadelphia. He did well playing with fellow Russians Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, and it will be interesting to see how he does with a full season playing alongside the duo. Still, he is no longer the scoring threat he once was and Fedorov is more of a low-end Fantasy option heading into 2008-09. (Updated 07/10/2008).
A Michigan bank is suing Fedorov, saying payments have stopped on more than $2 million in loans. (Updated 07/15/2008)
Advice
The lawsuit, filed in Macomb County Circuit Court, said Fedorov got loans in 2004 and 2005, one for $1.75 million and another for $500,000. A default notice was sent in May after payments stopped, Citizens State Bank attorney Scott Norton said Tuesday. Fedorov played 13 seasons for Detroit from 1990-2003. Columbus traded him to Washington during the 2007-08 season.
