Jagr leaving NHL, going to Russia: Russian club Avangard Omsk says it has signed Jaromir Jagr, a day after the New York Rangers parted ways with the Czech winger. Avangard announced the signing on its website Friday, but did not disclose the terms of the contract. He had played for Avangard during the NHL's lockout season in 2004-05. (Updated 07/04/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
The Rangers on Thursday signed former Vancouver captain Markus Naslund to replace Jagr. Jagr had long been reported to be considering lucrative offers from Russia, and Rangers general manager Glen Sather said Thursday the club could not wait any longer for Jagr to decide where he wanted to play. This move makes him worthless in NHL Fantasy leagues, obviously and eliminates all of his value in keeper formats. It's a good idea to await confirmation before cutting ties with him. Also, if it's just a one-year deal, Jagr may be worth hanging on to in some long-term keeper formats. (Updated 07/04/2008).
