Avalanche LW Cody McLeod managed just 6:13 of ice time Monday against the Red Wings. McLeod let his temper flare against Detroit, as both teams got a little heated after a first-period hit on Red Wings D Niklas Lidstrom knocked him out of the game with a knee injury. McLeod drew four penalties in the game. First, he got two minutes for holding in the first period. Then he drew a four-minute roughing penalty 35 seconds into the third period before the refs decided to give him two 10-minutes game misconducts. In all, he racked up 26 penalty minutes. Fantasy Analysis
The rookie McLeod has been a big troublemaker as of late. He has drawn a major penalty in five of the last six games. He has totaled 46 penalty minutes in that span and now has 95 penalty minutes in 27 games this season. He is a decent two-way player, but McLeod really should only be used in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM. (Updated 02/19/2008).
