--Quarterback Jon Kitna is not worried about losing his job to Drew Stanton or Dan Orlovsky. "I'm pretty well established as the leader of this football team and the quarterback, and Rod has never wavered from that," Kitna said. "So I don't expect that to be any different from that, and I'm pretty excited about where we're going as a football team."

--Kitna is looking forward to having more control at the line of scrimmage, after having virtually none under former offensive coordinator Mike Martz. "I'm kind of a control freak by nature, and so it's a good thing," Kitna said. "The other thing is, I think it will encourage more dialogue between myself and the receivers and the linemen and what they're seeing, and I can take input from them. There also has to be a line that says, 'Okay, I got you, and we'll try to get to it, but we've got to do what's best for the team.' "

--Wide receiver Roy Williams isn't getting too excited about the changes in the Lions' offense. "It sounds good, man," Williams said. "Everything sounds good in the offseason. I've got to see it Week 1 vs. the Falcons. We're just working hard, man, doing the things we're supposed to do, and hope it pays off Week 1, and Week 1 I can answer those questions."

-- The Lions headed off questions for safety Kalvin Pearson by issuing a statement: "Based on advice from my legal counsel, I will not be making any comments on my pending legal situation in Florida." Pearson was arrested April 26 in Tampa after allegedly choking a woman pregnant with his child and trying to elude police.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Our expectation is we will be disappointed if we don't win 10 games, because that will mean we're not in the playoffs and that sucks. I can't make it any simpler than that. Anybody who says that's not their expectation level is unfortunately not very much of a competitor." -- QB Jon Kitna, in the latest incarnation of his 10-win talk.

I just don't think this Jones thing will work out with us. Our coach Lovie Smith really loves the awful Adrian Peterson. I am very excited that we picked up Kevin Jones. Also, I do like Forte, but knowing the ...(more)

I haven't heard much talk about this, but the rule of thumb in the NFL is that a coach's third year is the make-or-break season.  My question to Lions fans is this:  How well do the Lions have to play in order for Rod to keep his job? or... How badly do they have to play in order for him to lose it?

IMO they wo ...(more)
