4/16/08DLGabe WatsonKnee The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals DT Gabe Watson fractured a kneecap in an offseason treadmill accident and is not a lock to be at 100 percent for the start of training camp in July. "The thing that's disappointing is that Gabe has shown such great progress and he's getting it," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "Just the fact that he was working to get himself in shape after he had done his workout here is a testament to him. One thing that's an advantage for him is that he's in such better shape at this point than he's ever been in, it gives him a much greater chance at getting back quickly." (Updated 04/16/2008)
4/11/08DBEric GreenGroin The Arizona Cardinals tendered one-year qualifying offers to DL Antonio Smith and DB Eric Green on Thursday. They are restricted free agents, which means they have until April 18 to sign the offer. In the meantime, they can negotiate with another team but the Cardinals have a right to match any offer or receive a draft pick as compensation. Green and Smith, starters last season, were tendered first-round offers of $2.07 million. The Cardinals would receive a first-round pick if they sign with another team and that offer is not matched by Arizona. (Updated 02/28/2008)
4/11/08LBChike OkeaforArm Arizona Cardinals OLB Chike Okeafor will probably miss the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday to reattach a torn biceps tendon. Okeafor was holding out hope for a return this season, coach Ken Whisenhunt said, but the normal recovery period for that type of surgery is four months. (Updated 08/15/2007)
3/26/08QBMatt LeinartCollarbone The Arizona Republic reports coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked if there are any plans to resurrect the dual-quarterback scheme from last year, when he'd alternate between Matt Leinart and veteran Kurt Warner, with Warner working goal-line and no-huddle situations. "I certainly wouldn't rule something like that out," Whisenhunt said. "Last year we did it because we felt it gave us the best chance to win. It wasn't really a thing about who did this better. Obviously, Kurt ran the no huddle better at that time. But Matt is much further along with it. He was very efficient again (Wednesday) when we ran the two-minute drill. I think that's going to play itself out. I wouldn't say we wouldn't do that, but I don't anticipate that being a necessity for us this year." (Updated 06/12/2008)
1/7/08TELeonard PopeAnkle Before breaking his ankle in Week 14 at Seattle, Leonard Pope was beginning to make strides as a low-end Fantasy TE, especially in the second half of the season. The second-year Cardinal started 11 games and caught 23 balls for 238 yards (10.3 avg.) and five touchdowns with one fumble. (Updated 01/07/2008)
1/7/08DBAdrian WilsonHeel Cardinals DB Adrian Wilson, who missed the second half of last season with a heel/Achilles injury, is recovering nicely from surgery. He is expected to be 100 percent by training camp. (Updated 03/27/2008)
