Week 2 Judgements: Here's your guarantee

1. It was stupid how close Detroit was to putting up 40 on Chicago.

2. That was Philadelphia's seventh straight division loss. The Eagles were 16-2 in the NFC East the previous three years.

3. This is what it's come down to for Oakland's Aaron Brooks: One week he has more sacks (seven) than completions (six); the next he has more fumbles (two) than passing attempts (zero). I never thought I'd say this, but I bet Kerry Collins is happy he's in Tennessee.

4. The best thing that happened to Alex Smith is Norv Turner. The 49ers' new offensive coordinator knows how to construct young quarterbacks, and he's proving it again in San Francisco.

5. So much for that quarterback controversy, Chicago.

6. This is why you should take Atlanta seriously: In two games it not only hasn't allowed a touchdown, but the Falcons have run for a league-best 558 yards. Let's see, great defense, great running attack ... yep, that's how you win championships.

7. The more I see San Diego's Michael Turner, the more I'm convinced he could start for over half the teams in this league.

8. Well, that's not exactly what I'd call a Statement Game by Jake Plummer. The Cutler for Quarterback forces are beginning to circle, as we speak. And yes, just for the record, I did think Javon Walker pushed off on that 24-yard catch in overtime.

9. Uh-oh, we may have to reschedule that Super Bowl party for Carolina. Of the last 36 teams to reach the playoffs, only one started out 0-2.

10. No, that's not a typo: Kerry Collins' passer rating was 1.3.

11. Good thing the Raiders have Art Shell and Jackie Slater to coach their offensive line. They surrendered 15 sacks in two games.

12. So much for the idea that Minnesota would miss Daunte Culpepper. The Vikings haven't lost, and Culpepper? Well, he looks more like the quarterback of 2005 than he does the quarterback of 2004, and that's not good for Miami. Over his last nine starts he has seven touchdowns, 15 interceptions and 41 sacks. More important, he's 2-7. Randy Moss, where are you?

13. David Carr is 22 of 26 with no interceptions. Damon Huard is 17 of 23 with no interceptions. Jon Kitna is 23 of 30 with no interceptions. Donovan McNabb is 27 of 45 with no interceptions. So what do all these guys have in common besides uncommon accuracy? They all lost. Weird. I don't know that I've ever seen an afternoon when five losing quarterbacks each had passer ratings over 90, but it happened, folks.
