The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that new RB Michael Turner is expected to be used as a physical interior runner a la Jerome Bettis in the Steelers' offense back in the early 90s. That connection makes sense since the Steelers' play-caller back then was Mike Mularkey, who is now running the Falcons' offense. Turner did not participate in the club's offseason minicamp as he's recovering from a minor shoulder procedure. Turner is expected to be fine for training camp. (Updated 04/15/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Turner (5-foot-10, 237 pounds) had 228 carries for 1,257 yards and six touchdowns in four seasons with San Diego. He also had three of the longest 11 carries in team history -- 83, 74 and 73 yards. He has averaged 5.5 yards per carry in his career. He'll give up some carries to Jerious Norwood, but the huge contract he signed suggests he'll be on the hook for at least 15 touches per game plus goal-line work. After two years of Turner going round-and-round with other NFL clubs, his landing spot in the Falcons' nest locks him in as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB with plenty of upside. He's well worth a pick between Rounds 4 and 6 in all drafts this summer. (Updated 04/15/2008).
