Jones was expected to take goal-line carries away from Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew in 2007 after missing 2006 with a torn ACL. Instead, Jones spent much of the season blocking as the fullback. He finished the year with 119 yards rushing and only two touchdowns, but he also added 11 catches for 99 yards and two scores.
