WR Hackett back at practice: D.J. Hackett returned to practice for the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday after sitting out with a sore knee. The Panthers signed Hackett and fellow veteran Muhsin Muhammad in the offseason to give them more options to pair with star Steve Smith. Muhammad and Hackett were expected to contend for the starting job. Hackett was the third receiver before sitting out two optional practices with a sore knee. (Updated 06/04/2008).
Injury Report
Knee - Questionable for the start of training camp (Updated - 6/4/08)
Fantasy Analysis
On paper, Hackett is a nice tall receiver with adequate speed. On the field ... well, he's hardly there. If having ankle sprains get you Fantasy points, then this guy is a stud. Otherwise, he's a high-risk, medium-reward wideout who will have the opportunity to play a lot with the Panthers, but his injury history might limit him from playing 16 games. And if you need further proof of that, consider that Hackett had to wait several weeks into free agency to find a suitor, and that he only received a two-year deal. (Updated 06/04/2008).
