DL Taylor traded to Washington: The Washington Redskins traded for defensive end Jason Taylor on Sunday, sending two draft picks to the Miami Dolphins. The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round pick in 2010. Washington executive vice president Vinny Cerrato said Taylor is expected to report to Redskins training camp on Monday. The deal came only hours after the Redskins lost starting defensive end Phillip Daniels to a season-ending knee injury. (Updated 07/20/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
The Redskins were forced to make a move Sunday after losing Daniels, who was the team's starting left end. Taylor is used to playing on the right, but the Redskins will make sure to get him in the lineup anyway possible. In Miami, Taylor played primarily at right end, but Redskins VP Vinny Cerrato said Washington will move him to the left side. Andre Carter plays right defensive end for the Redskins. Taylor had 56 tackles, 11 sacks, one interception, one touchdown and four forced fumbles in 2007. It was the third straight season he had 10-plus sacks and the fifth time since 2002. Taylor is a solid No. 1 Fantasy DL. Adding Taylor to the defense definitely helps the Fantasy value of the Redskins DST, but they are still more of a high-end No. 2 Fantasy unit. (Updated 07/20/2008).
DE Jason Taylor, who was acquired on Sunday to take over at left end, said he will honor the final two years of his contract. He is due $8 million this season and $8.5 million next year, with a $500,000 roster bonus in each season. Before the trade, Taylor had hinted at perhaps playing just one more season. He turns 34 in September. The biggest question now is how his 255-pound body will hold up on the left side, where he will face bigger and more aggressive right tackles. "I don't look real big," Taylor said. "And I might not look too tough, but I mix it up, and I'll play the run as well as I can for my size. 07/22/2008
The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor on Sunday, the same day that Redskins starting defensive end Phillip Daniels was carted away from the practice field with a season-ending knee injury. 07/20/2008
Advice
The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end - who was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year - fell out of favor in Miami after spending his offseason on the TV show "Dancing With the Stars'' rather than working out with teammates. The 33-year-old Taylor has played 11 NFL seasons and he's started every game each of the past eight years. He had 11 sacks during the 2007 season, giving him 117 over his career.

The Redskins get Jason Taylor for one year, maybe two, but he doesn't get them any closer to contending for a title. Meanwhile, the Dolphins get two draft picks, helping them come out on top in this deal, Pete Prisco says.
The Jason Taylor-Bill Parcells soap opera? Over. The Redskins rescue the wily, veteran DE out of Miami in a trade that will be the shot in the arm Taylor needs. And what a coup for Washington, Clark Judge says.
What a way to open training camp: Washington Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels tore a left knee ligament Sunday during the very first practice and will miss the season.
