Culpepper to start at Panthers: The Lions are going to start Daunte Culpepper for the second straight week. Coach Rod Marinelli confirmed his plans Wednesday, saying Culpepper would be the No. 1 quarterback at the Carolina Panthers. Culpepper was 5-of-10 for 104 yards in his Detroit debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed a two-year deal last week, ending his brief retirement after making 11 lackluster appearances the previous two seasons for Oakland and Miami. A knee injury suffered in Charlotte against the Panthers stunted his career when he was in his final season with the Vikings.

Fantasy Analysis

Culpepper hasn't been a reliable Fantasy option since 2004, and likely won't be again. His matchup against the Panthers on Sunday is a nightmare, even if he is capable of connecting for a couple of long receptions with stud receiver Calvin Johnson. He'll also lose some touches to second-year QB Drew Stanton. No Lions quarterback should be considered Fantasy worthy at this point.

QB Drew Stanton looked good in his NFL debut Sunday. The Lions put in a goal-line package for him and he threw his first NFL pass for a 1-yard touchdown. Then he mopped up in the fourth quarter. He showed his inexperience by taking five sacks, but he finished 6-for-8 for 94 yards. 11/11/2008
