DE James dealt to Redskins: Able to rescind their waiver transaction for former first-round pick DE Erasmus James, the Vikings instead traded him to Washington for a conditional seventh-round choice in the 2009 NFL Draft. "We really liked Erasmus coming out of college," team VP of football operations Vinny Cerrato said. "He's young and talented, and he has a great deal of potential. We like the fact that his defensive line coach at the University of Wisconsin--John Palermo--is our current defensive line coach." (Updated 05/27/2008).
Injury Report
Knee - Questionable for the start of 2008 training camp (Updated - 4/11/08)
Fantasy Analysis
James was going to be waived after he failed to pass a physical with the Vikings last week. After notching four sacks in 15 games during his rookie season, James had a series of serious knee injuries that derailed his time with the Vikings. James tore the ACL in his left knee in Week 2 of the 2006 season. After a long and arduous rehab, James returned to the Vikings and played sparingly in six games last year. But he suffered a similar injury to the same knee in Week 13 against Detroit and again was placed on injured reserve. Citing his injury history, Fantasy owners shouldn't invest in James. (Updated 05/27/2008).
DE Erasmus James was placed on the active-physically unable to perform list to open training camp. James continues to rehab his twice-repaired left knee. When the Vikings traded for NFL sacks leader Jared Allen in April, James, whom Minnesota had chosen 18th overall in the 2005 draft, became an afterthought. He was traded to Washington on May 30 for a conditional seventh-round pick. "I had a decent first year," said the 25-year-old James who had four sacks as a rookie. "I haven't really been able to get in a rhythm at all (since)." 07/22/2008

What a way to open training camp: Washington Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels tore a left knee ligament Sunday during the very first practice and will miss the season.
