Fantasy Analysis
Of these players, only Harrison and Vrabel are worth keeping an eye on in Fantasy play. Harrison still remains a quality playmaker and leader for the Patriots. But he's also been injury prone, and his stats have declined. He should still be considered a low-end No. 2 DB in IDP leagues and hopefully he can sustain his level of play for at least one more year. Vrabel remains a great source of tackles, and the sacks were a career-high in 11 seasons. If only he could be used on offense as well, he'd be a stud Fantasy option. For now consider him one of the best linebackers in IDP leagues and definitely plan on drafting him early in 2008. Everyone else isn't worth a look in Fantasy drafts. (Updated 07/24/2008).
SS Rodney Harrison, now 35 and coming off a draining season physically and emotionally, could've called it a career in the offseason and observers wouldn't have batted an eye. But Harrison, ever the competitor, never gave retirement a moment's thought. "I never really thought like that," Harrison said during last month's minicamp in Foxborough. "I just needed some time to rest, spend time with the family and get away. And after a month or two of rest, I got back, got excited, started working out and feel great now. "I feel great physically, I feel great mentally and spiritually. It was great having an opportunity to be out on the field with the guys; as you get older you really appreciate it more." 07/17/2008

Yes, they were this close to closing one incredible season. But that's all forgotten, right? Mike Freeman says the Patriots are insisting on it before launching what could be another monster season.
Who is on the verge of getting paid after the 2008 season? Dave Richard lists the players in a contract year and notes why they're worth targeting in drafts this summer.
