RB Lewis: I can top 1,500 yards: The Canton Repository reports that Browns RB Jamal Lewis, fresh off of a 1,304 rushing yard season, is setting his sights high in 2008. Lewis benefited from a strong offensive line and an upstart passing offense that eliminated eight- and nine-man fronts. Now he thinks he can top his '07 totals. "I think 1,400 or 1,500 yards is an understatement," Lewis said. "I'd like to get more than that. I think I can get more than that. Missing two games ... I could have gotten more than that last year." (Updated 05/23/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
In addition to his 1,304 rushing yards, Lewis had nine rushing touchdowns, 247 receiving yards and two receiving scores. He's re-signed with the club this offseason, which might make some folks skeptical about how willing he'll be to play hurt. Additionally, Lewis has had seven full seasons under his belt and will enter this year at 29 years old and with 2,120 career rushes. Our research finds that once a running back grinds out eight seasons of work and/or 2,400-to-2,600 carries, he begins to significantly slow down. All that said, Lewis is in the perfect place to run since he'll never see an eight-man front so long as the Browns are effective through the air -- expected to be the case in '08. Your best plan is to consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB and a top-20 pick in all drafts this summer. (Updated 05/23/2008).
RB Jamal Lewis is looking for his third straight season of 1,000 rushing yards or more. Lewis missed all of 2001 with a knee injury. Discounting that season, the only time in his eight-year career he failed to reach 1,000 yards was 2005 in Baltimore when he rushed for 906 yards. 07/17/2008
