Analysis
Positives: Prototype size for the position. Impressive blocker. Good strength and technique at the point of attack. Physical at the point. Has the athleticism and strength to make combo blocks, helping the offensive tackle seal the defensive end before releasing to block the incoming linebacker in space. Good release off the line of scrimmage, using a combination of agility and strength to get clear. Effective short- and mid-range target. Uses his size well to block the defender from the ball. Reliable hands. Fights for extra yardage.
Negatives: Lacks great burst off the snap. Isn't the elite athlete so en vogue at the position. Lacks the speed to challenge defenses down the seam and isn't a breakaway threat. Didn't develop into a featured component of the Cal offense.
