The Titans are in the playoff hunt and 7-6 and have won their last two games, but both of them were at home. On the road, they're just 2-5, but this will be their last away game until the playoffs if they make it which should motivate. The Giants have won their last two but both wins came against back-up QBs. The Giants are just 2-4 at home this season. I'm on the better team, the Titans.
This should be a cold, rainy game in New Jersey between one team that doesn't have much of a passing game and another that's no lock to have its best receiver. The Titans average just 16.4 points on the road, and their beat up on the offensive line, so I think the Giants defense has a great chance at having success. And the conditions won't lend themselves to a ton of points from the home team. Expect something like 24-10 and a comfortable win for the Under.
The Giants are quietly turning into a good team, as they rank 12th in weighted DVOA (which puts more emphasis on recent performance) and have won four of their last five while scoring 31.4 points per game. Tennessee offense is particularly awful on the road (16.4 points per game), and they're going against a defense that has become good at forcing turnovers, with multiple takeaways in four of their last five. The Titans are off two straight wins, but both were against awful offenses and at home; this is a whole different story.
The Giants actually have a chance to make the playoffs if several things go their way. Eli is playing decently, Saquon Barkley is terrific, and the offensive line has come around. The Titans have been up and down all year. This is a tough spot for Marcus Mariota going into that stadium at this time of year. Back New York.
What we don't know as of yet is whether or not Giants star WR Odell Beckham Jr. is going to play with a bruised quadriceps. Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is coming off of a record-breaking day against the Jaguars, and most importantly, an extended break after having to play on Thursday. I like the matchup here for the Titans, their ability to apply pressure and their ability to overcome mistakes. What I don't like about this matchup is that the Titans own QB Marcus Mariota can be a bit 'Eli Manning-ish' in the pocket.
