The Giants are getting a lot of love from the so-called "sharps," and I understand why. New York has won back-to-back games, while Philadelphia has looked hapless in its last few. It's also the second meeting between these teams after the Eagles beat the Giants by 21 earlier this season. Wait, let's rewind that: Philly beat New York by 21 earlier this season. Getting blown out by the Saints is nothing to scoff at, and the Cowboys are better now than it looked then. Meanwhile, the Giants have beaten ... the Bucs and the 49ers Four points is a fair price to pay for a team I have projected to win by 10. This is not to say NYG hasn't improved, but I don't see it winning in Philly.
The Giants and Eagles have gone Over in their past six meetings and I can't find any reason to think this one stays Under. The Eagles are still hung over from the Super Bowl, but the Giants' weak defense is the perfect tonic to get better. And the Giants' offense is finally getting some offensive line support. They've won their last two games by scoring at least 28 points. The G-Men on the money line is a look, but the Over is the better play.
The Giants are coming off two straight wins against bad teams, but here's a secret: The Eagles are also a bad team right now. The particular issue is the secondary, which is so beat up that receivers were practicing at corner this week. Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard should have a field day, and even if the Eagles offense finally gets their act together and scores some points, I don't see how they get out to a huge lead with this defense. And even if they do, Eli Manning should get the cover in garbage time anyway.
I'm looking to play Overs on Eagles games with the state of their secondary, especially if they're playing a passing game with a pulse. And that's the case with the Giants, who rank 14th in net yards per attempt. The Eagles offense has fallen off as of late but they put up 34 points on this Giants team on the road back in Week 6. I think this game is going well Over the total.
The Giants have won two in a row, and now they're facing another team that doesn't bring a lot of pressure on the QB. If Eli Manning doesn't get pressure, he can complete passes. Philly's secondary is beat up, and the Eagles don't have a running game. That's their basic problem. Take the points.
