If there was every a time that I would pick a team by near-double digits, it is the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football against a 49ers team that is 0-11 ATS when facing such long odds. With Green Bay on a 2-6 ATS streak as of late, I'd have thought that this would be closer to a touchdown. Instead, this line is fluctuating upwards. Green Bay is better suited to deal with its myriad of injuries than San Francisco, and I just do not see Alfred Morris getting enough on the ground to fuel the 49ers. Mason Crosby should be primed for a bounce back performance for the Packers. The true best bet here may be a six-point tease with the Over. But since I can't do that, let's take the Pack to roll on Monday night.
The 49ers have lost their last three games and their last four have gone Over the total. The defense has been horrendous and they're also -8 in turnovers. However, I can't side with the Over here. What I can see is the Packers systematically building and increasing a lead slowly squeezing the 49ers similar to their 22-0 win against the Bills. Take the Packers to cover Monday night.
I'm hopping on this number before it gets to double digits. This is the same line the Packers had before they easily beat the Bills 22-0, but the 49ers don't have as good a defense. San Francisco is also dealing with a lot of injury issues at the skill positions, and that's not good in a matchup with a defense that has played well, ranking third in net yards per attempt, ninth in points per drive and 11th in pass DVOA. I expect C.J. Beathard to struggle with the nation watching in primetime, and the Packers get an easy win.
Green Bay finds itself in a weird predicament as it stares up at the Chicago Bears in the NFC North. The Packers are a bit out-of-sync defensively, and for the most part, offensively in some games. Where the 49ers appear to have a shot is taking advantage of the Packers' inability to be consistent on offense. But at the end of the day, talent takes over and the better team ultimately wins. This game will look a lot like the Bills game for Green Bay.
